'Traffic light' travel system set to change

The travel ‘traffic light’ system is changing. Instead of having ‘red’ ‘amber’ and ‘green’ travel lists the system is set to change to a single ‘red’ list on Monday 4th October 2021 at 4am. Under this new simplified system double-vaccinated UK residents can travel to countries not on the ‘red’ list provided they have had both vaccines 2 week prior to travelling.

Under the new rules, fully vaccinated UK residents will no longer have to take a pre-departure test, a day 8 COVID test or quarantine for 10 days after you arrive back into UK. Instead, you will have to book and pay for a COVID test on day 2 upon arrival back into the UK, and complete a passenger locator form anytime in the 48hrs before arrival into the UK and provide proof of both vaccinations. So, for UK citizens and residents this would be the NHS COVID electronic QR passport or the NHS COVID vaccination certificate.

For those who are not vaccinated or fully vaccinated and travel to the UK from countries that are not on the ‘red’ list, you will be required to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test to be taken within 3 days of travel, book and pay for a day 2 and day 8 COVID test after arrival into the UK, complete the passenger locator form within 48hrs of arriving into the UK and quarantine for 10 days.

Countries in Caribbean still on the ‘red’ list includes:

Cuba
Dominican Republic
Guyana
Haiti
Trinidad and Tobago
