Destination guides

Dominica (pronounced Domineeca) is known as the Nature Island of the Windward Islands.  Search our interactive Google map so see all the famous places on this natural paradise teeming with amazing wildlife and sealife. Consider it one of the Caribbean’s best kept secrets and not to be confused with the Dominican Republic.

Reasons to visit Dominica

This is the only island where Caribs have survived and they still maintain traditional crafts such as canoe carving.  The island offers Morne Trois Pitons National Park which is a UNESCO world heritage site and offers the Boiling Lake (92C) with hot springs. It is recommended to take a guide.

We love Dominica for

  • Birdwatching
  • Coastal walks
  • Deep sea fishing
  • Diving
  • Gardens
  • Horseriding
  • Sandy Beaches
  • Watersports
  • Whalewatching

When to go to Dominica

The high season runs from mid December to mid April when hotel prices will rise and you will need to book up to a year in advance to get the best deals.

We recommend that you try travelling to Dominica at other times if you are not bound by school holidays, where you will find some great hotel and airfare deals. Check out our latest deals to Dominica with flights via Barbados with Virgin Atlantic.

Weather in Dominica

The rainy season runs from July to November although you can still find rain at other times.  The mountains have about four times the amount of rain as the coast. The average temperature year round is 27C.
